Our Process
Whether your needs involve a single room, a whole house, or simply assistance in selecting paint colors or accessories to finish a space, I will thoughtfully work with you to achieve your vision.
While every client has unique needs, budgets and timetables, I generally follow seven phases of project execution, allowing you to conveniently understand what is being done every step of the way.
1. Initial Consultation
The initial consultation lays the groundwork for the whole project. We’ll discuss what you want to achieve, the scope of the project, and your anticipated budget.
2. Conceptual Design
To create the foundation of the project, I create an accurate floor plan and inventory your furniture and accessories, so we can work together to choose the pieces to retain, redo, or replace. And, of course, we’ll talk about your style and color preferences, special uses for the space, and other details that will make it your space.
3. Design Development
Armed with what we’ve learned, we will develop a complete design scheme, including a defined color palette, space plan and furniture, fabric, finish, and fixture selections.
4. Presentation
I want you to “see” your beautiful and functional new space before we even begin, so I’ll help you visualize it through photographs, a portfolio of potential furniture and accessories selected especially for you and samples such as paint, tile, wall coverings, finishes, and fabrics that you can see and touch.
5. Implementation
An additional benefit of working with me is that over the course of several years helping bring spaces to life, I know who manufactures quality products, which local contractors provide superior work at reasonable prices, and where to get unusual or hard-to-find items. I’ll even take you on special shopping trips designed around your unique needs and budget.
6. Installation
I am personally invested in the success of your project and work to help you remain comfortable and at ease through the entire project. I will be on hand to help you review the work of painters, carpenters, tile installers, electricians, plumbers, furniture delivery teams, and other trades that may be working within your home.
7. Project Review
Details are important. Once installation is complete, I will have one final consultation to make sure you’re completely happy with everything we’ve done and that I’ve met or exceeded your initial expectations.
